Julie just wrote a great post on the grown-up romance of the VanDusen Botanical Garden’s Festival of Lights, but what about a holiday light show that’s all about the kids?
Stanley Park’s Miniature Train and Children’s Farmyard have that covered with their annual tradition, Stanley Park’s Bright Nights.
Just as the park’s miniature train is transformed into a Ghost Train every Halloween, every December it becomes a dazzling ride through a transformed forest, a winter wonderland decorated with millions of lights and dozens of holiday tableaux, courtesy of the dynamic performers at Mortal Coil.
Along with the magical lights, kids get a chance to visit Santa in his workshop and enjoy Christmas music, hot chocolate, and roasted chestnuts.
If you’re a fan of the Children’s Farmyard, go this year: the Children’s Farmyard will be closing in 2010.
Stanley Park Bright Nights runs from November 27, 2009 – January 2, 2010. Tickets are $8 for adults; $5 for kids and seniors.

Not too sure how I ran across your blog but glad I did find it. Think I was searching for something else online. Not certain I agree 100% with what you say, but have bookmaked and will pop back to go through to see if you add any additional posts. Carry on the very good work.
