Vancouver Screen Scene: Britney Spears, Kate Winslet, Idris Elba, Charlize Theron, and more

Britney Spears

Want a piece of Britney Spears? You just might see her in Vancouver…well, sort of….

What—is Britney Spears really in Vancouver? And Kate Winslet? Idris Elba? Charlize Theron? Is it true? Is it just gossip?

If you want the answers, read on, fangirls and fanboys.

Well, to start off, it’s not exactly Britney Spears, bitch. But it’s a reasonable facsimile.

The Lifetime TV movie about the American pop princess Britney will be directed by Leslie Libman and it starts shooting in Vancouver today (September 19).

Natasha Bassett

Natasha Bassett—the new Britney Spears?

Australia’s Natasha Bassett (Hail, Caesar!) was enough to snag the lead role as the singer. Talk about lucky. But, as they say, she better work.

The movie will chronicle Spears’ crazy shot to stardom, her toxic fall from grace, and her return to form as a stronger individual.

It’ll also delve into Spears’ relationships with Justin Timberlake, Jason Alexander, and Kevin Federline (remember him? No? Neither do we).

Unfortunately, viewers who want a piece of this biopic will have to wait it’s broadcast in 2017.

Mech-X4

Speaking of big-name productions on the horizon, two big stars are coming our way, determined to overcome any obstacles between them.

Kate Winslet and Idris Elba are slated to star in the romantic drama The Mountain Between Us.

Idris Elba

Idris Elba

It’s based on Charles Martin’s 2010 novel about a surgeon and a woman who are forced to depend on each other after they survive a plane crash in the wilderness.

As they struggle to find their way back to civilization, they fall in love.

It doesn’t start shooting here until December 1 and continues until February 17 so you’ve got plenty of time to get ready for it.

The Man in the High Castle

As previously mentioned, some other productions have wrapped up.
