Run, Flow, Dance – Vancouver Health & Wellness Events in July 2018

Summer is running season in Vancouver, and it is with some personal irony that this month’s wellness events list is mostly run related.  The reason I say this is because I am not a runner. At all. But that’s the beauty of Vancouver, there’s something for everyone. And for my fellow non-runners, don’t worry, there’s some fun outdoor activities happening for us as well!

Peak Yoga on Grouse Mountain (Starts June 30)

Pre-brunch or post-Grouse Grind yoga, anyone? Grouse Mountain and YYOGA have brought back a yoga experience with an amazing view. Starting on June 30, you can attend a 60-minute outdoor yoga class at The Plaza, on top of Grouse Mountain, every Saturday and Sunday for the rest of the season!  Your Skyride down will be perfect bliss. Classes are complimentary with Grouse Mountain membership or class admission ticket. To choose your date and for more information, click here.

Run Canada Day (July 1)

This annual Canada Day race has both 5 and 10 kilometre options, and proceeds go towards Diabetes Canada. There is also 1K Kids run a seniors’ walk, so if you’re looking for a way to keep fit with the family on Canada’s birthday, this is for you! Post-race refreshments will be provided, and there will be a giant Canadian flag cake. A patriotic win for everyone! For more information and to register, click here.

Sunday Afternoon Salsa (Starts July 8)

Dance is great exercise. Salsa is great fun. And a summer means that Sunday Afternoon Salsa is back Robson Square Downtown core! These free outdoor salsa classes are fun to either watch or take part in, and have been taking place since 2006. So grab your partner, or a group of friends, and shake what your mama gave you. You will have the best time!

Knee Knackering North Shore Trail Run (July 14)

With a name like the Knee Knacker, you know this race lives up to its moniker. With a course length of 30 miles and an elevation gain of 16,000 feet, what else could it be called? And participants love it! Runners will be collecting donations to support the North Shore Search and Rescue. For more information, and to register, visit the Knee Knacker website.

Siyaflo Health Series is hosting its second event on July 15th, this time aimed to celebrate summer and spice things up. The morning will include some vinyasa flow yoga, networking, facial stretching therapy (gotta exercise all the muscles!), a sexy dancehall lesson, and a workshop with a holistic nutritionist to learn about the beneficial properties of spices. Sorry gents, this one is ladies only!
