We’ve all got the same ol’ New Year’s resolutions each year that typically fall under losing weight, eating better, exercising, earning money, etc… etc…

Not only are those resolutions not fun they are not easy to keep. So, instead of making the kind of resolutions that will have you swearing off bread or sweating on a treadmill surrounded by hundreds of other people who’ve pledged to shed 10 pounds, here are 5 Vancouver-specific resolutions that will actually be fun to accomplish.

Try one, or try them all! Let us know if you can think of any other good ones in the comment section below.

1. Conquer as many peaks as possible

Hiking in Vancouver is top notch. So, if you’re hoping to get in shape this season – why not have fun doing it? There are three major mountains in Vancouver and they offer some stunning views.

Why not try to get to the top of the Grouse Snowshoe Grind? Or, there’s always the Peaks of Mount Seymour. Not wanting to drive a big distance? Try Lynn Peak (with a friend or two), for a hike that’s quieter but still with a view that’s hard to beat.

2. Try ALL the restaurants during Dine Out Vancouver!

Dine Out Vancouver kicks off this January 18, 2019. Hundreds of restaurants across Vancouver take part in Dine Out, which features fixed-price menus at $15, $25, $35 and $45 per person. There are also tons of delicious events that take place during the 17-day festival.

The big list of restaurants gets revealed on January 10, 2019. So pay close attention to the website to get your foodie adventure plans all mapped out!

3. Take an art tour… outside

As part of the Vancouver Mural Festival, our city was transformed into a canvas for some amazing artists in our city.

Across Main Street, Granville Island, and other locations in East Vancouver are some outstanding works of art that are completely free to see. Just take a look at the Vancouver Mural Festival website for a map on where to go. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

4. Golf, Ski, and Kayak in the same day

There’s a saying that Vancouver is the best place to live because you can “ski, golf, and kayak all on the same day” due to our warm weather and proximity of ocean to mountain. However, this is actually pretty tough to do.

For 2019, make it your mission to spend the morning skiing on Grouse Mountain, drive down to a pitch-n-putt golf course in West Vancouver or Stanley Park, and then go for an evening paddle in Kitsilano to enjoy the sunset. Think you can handle that? You’ll get a good sleep after accomplishing this resolution!

5. Spend a whole week laughing your head off

There are a plethora of comedy shows in Vancouver to keep you entertained throughout 2019. But, the big one is coming in February! Just for Laughs Vancouver 2019 is coming from February 14 – 23 with an outstanding list of amazing comedians.

From Gabriel Iglesias and Howie Mandel to Aziz Ansari, Ken Jeong to Whitney Cummings, and a little bit of Nick Swardson and Michelle Wolf mixed in… And that’s just the top two rows of headliners.

You’re going to want to get your tickets now if you plan on seeing any one of the hilarious comedians that will be visiting Vancouver this February. Don’t forget – laughing is a great ab workout!
