Filming in Vancouver: TV series Arrow and Supergirl wrap, Jason Momoa’s See extended

Arrow, starring Stephen Amell, is finishing up filming Season 7.

Well we’ve passed through the thick of TV pilot production season, in which numerous potential TV series shoot an initial episode and await word if they’re approved to become a full series.

In this week’s roundup of what’s going on in Vancouver’s screen scene, two Arrowverse TV series are calling it a wrap. And one of them will be heading into its final season next time around.

Plus, production on a new TV series starring Jason Momoa was extended for a few weeks.

So if you’re interested, here’s a quick look at what’s coming and going from the streets of Vancouver this week.

Among the recent wraps for TV pilots were detective series The Haunting of Nancy Drew, high-tech thriller Next, and a homescreen adaptation of the 1980s vampire movie The Lost Boys.

Supergirl

And last week, The Flash called it a wrap on Season 5.

But this week, two more superpowered TV series are finishing up, including the one that spawned the Arrowverse.

Melissa Benoist

Supergirl wraps on Season 4 today (April 15), which has been filming since July 11, 2018.

In Season 4, which premiered on October 14, Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) used her position as a reporter to address anti-alien issues arising in the city while concealing her true identity as Supergirl and being an alien herself.

Katie McGrath

The cast includes Katie McGrath, David Harewood, Jesse Rath, Sam Witwer, and Nicole Maines.

And there are only a few weeks left before the season finale is scheduled to hit the airwaves on May 19.

Sam Witwer

Even though it’s finishing up production here in Vancouver, the good news is that the show will be back for a fifth season.

Arrow

Meanwhile, Arrow completes shooting 22 episodes for Season 7 on Thursday (April 18) after having started back on July 6, 2018.

Season 7 premiered on October 15 and will have its finale on May 13.

Stephen Amell portrays lead character Oliver Queen, otherwise known as Green Arrow.

Rick Gonzales

The cast includes David Ramsey, Rick Gonzalez, Juliana Harkavy, and Katie Cassidy Rodgers.

Colton Haynes

New series regulars this season include Colton Haynes (who rejoined as a regular cast member), Kirk Acevedo, and Sea Shimooka.

Unfortunately, some cast members who won’t be returning as regulars next season.

That includes Emily Bett Rickards, who plays Felicity Smoak, and Echo Kellum, who portrays Mr. Terrific.

Both are departing this season but fear not, for it may not be the last we’ll see of them on the show—or in the city.

Echo Kellum

That said, something to look forward to is that Tom Welling, who played Clark Kent on the locally shot TV series Smallville, has been reported to be appearing in Season 8 of the series.

Sadly, on the other hand, all good things must come to an end—Season 8 is also slated to be the finale season of the series.

Jason Momoa

In other news, although we previously reported that production on Season 1 on the sci-fi drama See was scheduled to wrap on March 29, it looks like it has since been extended to Wednesday (April 17).

The Apple TV series stars Jason Momoa (Aquaman) as a leader and warrior in a world in which humanity has adapted to having gone blind—until twins are born with the ability of vision.

Momoa had announced on social media on March 25 that his time in the lead role of Baba Voss was winding up.

Well, that’s all for this week but until we meet again, have fun Vancouver-spotting on a screen near you.
