UBC Sport Science Symposium (May 3)

The UBC Thunderbirds Sport Science Symposium is a one-day sports science symposium hosting a wide breadth of presenters and attendees across all disciplines and sport science facets at UBC. This symposium aims to build the network amongst students and professionals, highlight ongoing student projects and applied sport research, impart trans-disciplinary knowledge, and inspire further involvement with the department’s Integrated Support Team (IST).

BMO Health, Sports & Lifestyle Expo (May 3-4)

The 2019 BMO Vancouver Marathon Expo will run from Friday, May 3 to Saturday, May 4. It’s the perfect place for visitors to soak up the inspiring atmosphere at Vancouver’s largest premium sports and fitness expo. Entry to the Expo is free — tell all your family and friends to come along, even if they are not competing. All the major athletic brands will have booths and a multitude of other exhibitors will be showing and selling everything from unique leggings to the newest tips on nutrition to the latest GPS devices.

Yoga for Runners (May 4)

Yoga for Runners is a free class open to everyone, particularly aimed at getting you and you and your supporters pumped up and ready for the BMO Vancouver Marathon on May 5! Held at the Health, Sport and Lifestyle Expo, bring your mat to flow, stretch, and sweat out all of your pre-race anxieties. Your mind and body will love you for the zen prep before the BMO Vancouver Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay, or 8KM the next day.

BMO Marathon (May 5)

Have you been marathon training, but haven’t yet registered for the BMO Vancouver Marathon? There’s still time to sign up! This international event is the start to marathon season in Vancouver, and is the second largest international marathon event in Canada. With AIMS certification, this race is a benchmark for Boston Marathon qualification and has consistently been named one of the Top 10 marathons worth traveling for by publications like Forbes and CNN. Yoga on Tap (May 5)

Love craft beer? Love yoga? Steamworks Brewing is bringing back their Yoga on Tap event at their Brewery and Taproom location. Just a 20-30 min transit ride away from Commercial Drive, you can enjoy an all-levels yoga practice led by a local yoga studio at Modo Yoga Burnaby.
