A lineup of world-renowned luthiers, live music, master classes, workshops, and exhibitions are featured in another edition of the Vancouver International Guitar Festival.

The two day-festival runs June 29-30 at Creekside Community Centre (1 Athletes Way). Special guests include internationally recognized guitar-maker Robert Godin. The festival will present him with the 2019 Luthier Industry Builder Award, given to an individual who has made a significant and lasting contribution to the evolution of the guitar building industry. He’ll also present a free one-hour workshop while he’s at the festival.

See below for more info.

Among other guests are four outstanding woman luthiers and musicians: Leila Sidi, Nicole Alosinac, Meredith Coloma (a VIGF producer) and Jamie Stillway.

Portland fingerstyle player Jamie Stillway performs at this year’s Vancouver International Guitar Festival June 29-30.

Other performers include Don Ross, David Martone, Don Alder, Terry Robb, Itamar Erez, and Paul Pigat. Their styles range from rock to blues to classical to flamenco. Concerts are held at the Time Out Bar and at evening live showcases.

Godin’s workshop will focus on the basics of great acoustic sound and playability. He will demonstrate the impact of using different woods to achieve different sounds and tones, along with the reasoning behind different scale lengths, neck and headstock designs.

At the guitar exhibition itself, you’ll have a chance to see, hear, play and purchase some of the world’s finest guitars.
