One of Vancouver’s favourite food festivals, Brewery and the Beast (BATB), returns for its tenth edition on Sunday, July 9 at Concord Pacific Place. The all-you-can-eat-and-drink barbecue event brings together the city’s best chefs, restaurants, and beverage makers for a feast of fire-kissed meats, craft beers, cocktails, cider, wine and more!

What to Eat

This year, over 50 featured local restaurants and chefs from across Vancouver and Whistler will be serving some exceptional dishes cooked over an open fire to savour. BATB celebrates the outdoor roots of the festival by giving chefs free rein to be bold and creative through both traditional and modern cooking techniques that involve whole animal roasts, smoking, braising, and grilling. Chefs will showcase innovative dishes with various proteins from beef to bison, pork, lamb, goat, wild boar, chicken, elk, rabbit, and duck.

Participating restaurants include Savio Volpe, Published on Main, Elisa, Anh and Chi, Boulevard, Pourhouse, Torafuku, The Victor, Homer Street Cafe, Two Rivers Meats, Wildlight, Alimentaria Mexicana, Cómo Taperia, Paella Guys, Tacofino, and many more.

What to Drink

Known for showcasing high-quality meat in various styles, the festival pairs the wide variety of dishes available with chilled beer, craft ciders, premium wines, hard seltzers, refreshing cocktails, kombucha tea, and a selection of zero-proof options. As half of the event’s name suggests, there will be plenty of beers and ales on hand from Parallel 49 Brewing, Driftwood Brewery, and Vancouver Island Brewery.

As for cocktails, VIP ticketholders can also enjoy two custom-made cocktails from Beverage Ambassador Chris Enns and his team with premium ingredients and spirits such as Ardbeg Whiskey and Tito’s Vodka. These drinks promise to have a thematic connection to the event and summer.

Live Music

No proper celebration would be complete without music. While you eat and drink, Brewery and the Beast will feature live entertainment from local artists, including house band The Electric Timber Company, on its main stage with musicians and DJs spinning tunes all afternoon.
